Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated that coach Maurizio Sarri and midfielder Jorginho may be joining Stamford Bridge in the coming days, according to sky sports.
While Carlo Ancelotti has already joined the Series A side as their new manager, while Sarri still hangs around, most probably for the rumors of him replacing Antonio Conte at Chelsea to come into play. On the other hand, Jorginho has also been tipped to make a move to the Blues.
“The Sarri affair is in the home stretch, it depends on him,” he said. “I’ve laid down my conditions. It’s all in the hands of lawyers. Jorginho? We said to ourselves, ‘if Jorginho has any requests, we’ll take them into account.’ For that, I’ll have to apologise to Manchester City. However, if the player would rather live in London than Manchester, I can understand that.”
De Laurentiis accepted initially the talks had started off with Manchester City’s Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak about Jorginho about 15 days ago, but as Stamford Bridge were offering better transfer money and wages, it was evident City’s hopes would not be entertained in the current scenario.
“These offers did not start from Chelsea, but from Manchester City. As a matter of fact, I will apologize to Khaldoon [Al Mubarak], because I found a deal with Khaldoon 15 days ago,”
It is believed that City are not happy about the decision, but, despite De Laurentiis’s statement, they may have not written themselves totally off in this contest as yet. It may be a matter of days till the confirmation of this transfer, but, by the looks of it, it seems like the stage is set for the transfers to go through.
