The Gunners are expected to complete their 6th summer signing soon in the form of 29-year-old Domagoj Vida, as reported by The Sun. Having already spent £70 m during this season on five signings, the deal will only be possible if the Gunners offload Welbeck or Shkodran Mustafi, in-order to raise cash for the Besiktas star.
New boss Unai Emery is optimistic that a bid of 25 m for the Croatian international will suffice his release cause and land him at the Emirates stadium. Emery reckons Chambers, Mustafi and Rob Holding may not be convincing enough to grasp the opponent, so the desire to -further reinforce his existing six central defenders is coming into action.
Besiktas have already rejected an offer of £13.5 million by Liverpool during this transfer window for Vida, although he only joined their side from Dynamo Kiev for £8 Million in January. So an offering of £25 m to the Turkish club sounds pretty much substantial.
Arsenal fans are not happy about the idea of losing either of the two. Apart from the Gunners, Manchester United and Liverpool are also standing in the queue to pounce on Vida’s signature after his marvelous stint in the World Cup. Either way, with only days to go for the deadline, Arsenal will have to expedite their options of raising cash if they really want a 6th man this season.
